You can continue changing the time line to be with your lover but the plot will always accommodate what the original plot dictates. So the character would try to change the plot by changing the way they behave or changung major events but that simply would mean that another characters could continue this plot on by acting in their place.
Which is what she sees. So now the plot continues on but she is taking the similar role of mia. I would feel pessimistic and doubtful too.
