If he had Kiha would have been stabbed instead. I think it was inevitable though. I think Ellin saving Kiha from burning to death ensured the King dying instead because history books said it was one of them that died, so there was no changing that, it was going to be Kiha or the King that night no matter what.
Logically, instead of letting the bitch talk a lot and be near Light, Kiha should have taken the knife and restrain her first!!! There was clearly something wrong with her head from her past actions (psycho draining innocent female’s blood for jealousy wth). With his intelligence as the strategist, he should have predicted her possible crazy action from the foreshadowing of her previous words and pull Light away from getting close to her gaahhh (won’t blame Kiha cause I love him too much, so I blame the author instead for this frustrating turn of event ehee jk lol)
