Brooo I agree with ya I mean... It does makes the story funny right? It's just that even I still get pissed at Saitou BBUUTT the man's a good guy and he even adds the spice to their relationship so ig it's fine? Because all that matters is no crossing boundaries between them. (⌒▽⌒)
I get why people dislike nagai, he always has a soft spot for saitou even after dating honda. But imo he already proved tht he is indeed in love with honda and not saitou, i think the author shows nagai's weakness to saitou even after admitting his feelings towards honda is for gag purpose only, just to make it funny.
