You're so damn right. As a person who read yaoi since a veeeery long time, I feel like the older I get, the harder it is for me to actually like it because I just realize that there is too much rape in yaoi, so much that it became the norm !! It's getting harder and harder to find a yaoi which doesn't normalize or romancise rape... Some people actually like it and I respect it but damn, it's getting tiring to see this "trope" in EVERY damn yaois
Sigh it’s actually disgusting how bl authors all have some form of rape in their manga. It’s annoying, and normalizes it bc the MC always ends up with the rapist, and it’s always portrayed in a light manner (like ‘oh I said no but he kept doing it, but it’s okay, it did feel good I guess, and now I’m catching f e e l i n g s so it’s okay’)
It’s just sad how many mangas/webtoons I read with this setting. We’re basically expected to ignore/downplay/normalize the rape/assault bc the rapist is the Male Lead.
A shame.
