How do people read this genre? I’m just curious

I’m asking sincerely, I’m not trying to be rude. I’m the type who can’t stand to read pedophilia, child rape, violent rape, etc it traumatizes me - I literally can’t function for days after reading. So I’m just curious, how do people read and actually like this genre? How do you read something like this and not feel like throwing up? What’s your secret, guys? I’m really curious.

There r people that like genres like gore/violence/dark/twisted.
But that doesn't mean that they fetishize/fantasize rape/assault.
It's quite a popular genre though.
I don't think there's any secret to it... It's just it sits right with their minds... There're many people that can't handle such hardcore content. It's fine if it doesn't suit ur taste... U can read some fluffy mangas/shounen-ai to put off that heavy feeling...

wow so i guess it’s just a “you like what you like” type of thing? i’m still amazed by the people who like it tho but i’m not judging. thanks for explaining!

idk man, i hate stories where the main character gets physiologically abused or something but like i find stories where a person does the same or worse back to the abuser very entertaining

summarized/simplified version: i feel tingly over my body like "eeeeeewwww oh my god" and then i realise it's fiction and not real and not happening to me and i'm like "ooooooooohhhh phewwww" and it feels good

and/or: same reason people like action movies! the fear/excitement induced adrenaline from reading gore/abuse. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

I of course don´t fetishize this in any way at all, I think the darkness of it just keeps me interested is one way to put it? Like, it somehow just manages to get worse and worse as I read, and because of that I feel inclined to keep reading just to see how bad it can get. I´m a completely ace mlm, so once again, definitely not fetishizing this, just read stories for the scare.

for me at least, its not like i "enjoy" it or find some sort of sexual pleasure but from, i just find them interesting lol. Sorta like how some people like the watch horror/gore movies or watch true crime. Its twisting, dark stuff... but sorta intriguing at the same time (for some).
