I don’t think they have the same age mentality as us. The doctor didn’t seem like they’ve grown and they never spoke anything about age difference in the book so I’m not really sure if it was a norm in that society. All the kids grow up super fast just like Kona and Kin’s son/Tou’s brother grew up to be a full fledged adult super fast in just couple of years and became the successor of the doctor.
