Like the other said, I think J did want to become a woman from the beginning but couldn't do to the society he lived in. So, in stead he decided just to wear women's clothing and look like a woman. I guess eventually he realized he couldn't be completely a woman and excepted the fact that he was indeed a man. But, he just likes to where woman's clothing. So he kept doing it. So, I would just say he is woman in a man's body but doesn't hate the fact that he is a man. Paul loved him because he was man who enjoyed being a woman sometimes. I guess...
