Trashta has a baby already with a Viscount Roteschu’s son. There is a party where the queen planned to wear a red dress, and somehow Trashta found out about this, and wore a red dress too. Trashta showed up at the party before the queen did to mock her, and label her as a copycat. At the party, Trashta tells everyone that she is extremely excited to have a royal baby, to which Sovieshu frowns, and he tellsTrashta that her baby won’t be a royal baby because only the queen can have royal babies. This causes Trashta to get upset and start whining to Sovieshu.
Sovieshu comes up with a plan to make Trashta’s child a royal. His plan is to divorce the queen for one year, while continuing to still be lovers with the queen when the queen is a commoner (which is ridiculous). Then after a year he will see how everything is going and possibly bring the queen back as a lover. While all this is happening, the queen has become closer friends with prince Heinley. Also, the grand archduke falls in love with Navier , and confesses to the queen by mustering up his courage through drinking a love potion. The archduke is rejected, but not before Heinley gets mad and jealous, and the two have a fist fight.
Navier’s older brother, who is extremely violent but adores his sister, returns home. When he hears the news of Sovieshu having a concubine, he gets really angry. The brother runs into Trashta in the palace garden, where he yells at Trashta for being rude and basically an idiot. Trashta pretends like the brother pushed her and hit her, and gets sympathy, which causes the brother to get sent home. The brother does investigating about Trashta and finds out that Trashta is linked with Viscount Sovieshu. Viscount Sovieshu realizes he is in danger, and tries to kill the brother, but it doesn’t work, and the brother eventually kidnaps the viscount instead. In an abandoned house the brother chops off Viscount Sovieshus ear, and through this gains valuable info about Trashta, which Navier tells Sovieshu. However, Sovieshu has somehow already found out about the secret baby, so this doesn’t work.
One day when Navier is in the halls, she overhears Sovieshu talking about divorcing her. Navier is shocked because she trained to become empress/queen her entire life, and a divorce would be something politically disadvantageous(Trashta would become queen and she’s a runaway slave, has no knowledge of political affairs, and dumb). Navier goes to a restaurant where she meets up with Heinley. When Heinley sees how sad Navier is, he asks her what’s wrong, and Navier’s cold front breaks down, and she tells Heinley about everything. Heinley tells Navier that he wants her to be his queen instead, where he will treat her much better. Navier accepts, though she doesn’t realize that Heinley loves her, and thinks that their marriage is a political thing.
Sovieshu starts to like the queen more after the queen gets sick. He sees the queen having weaknesses and for some reason starts to like her more. It’s too late though, because Navier will be with Heinley.
The divorce happens with the grand/high priest or whatever, where Sovieshu declares that he will divorce Navier. Navier then asks permission to remarriage to the priest, and the priest says yes. Sovieshu is shocked because he thought he could still be with the queen after the divorce. Anyways, Heinley steps out, and Sovieshu starts raging at Heinley saying that Heinley was immoral stealing another mans wife. To this, Heinley replies that they’re already divorced, and then they leave. However, Heinley and Navier can’t get out of the kingdom because Sovieshu traps them. The duke guy helps them escape.
