How could she know if they are real people or not, they literally appeared out of thin air and the disappeared once and reappeared again, and she already knows they are from a novel so obviously she would think everything is going as the author wants but yeah she's kinda dumb not noticing them liking her but can u blame her? she probably never been in a relationship because she was with them since the beginning of middle school and never had a boyfriend the whole time

I'd understand her hesitance if it was the beginning of the story, where they disappeared on her for the first time and she didn't know them for long. You cant refute the fact that they've been close friends for around 3-4 years now and she is still refusing to finally accept the world around her, and just enjoy the time she has with them while she can. If you're always going to put your fear at the front of your mind then that will be the only thing you remember when looking back.
I get it that you're scared they're gonna leave, but you're never gonna actually live your life if you keep putting up excuses that it's only "novel cliches". Tbh she needs to realize these are real people with real emotions and that she can't just subconsciously pretend like all of their advances aren't real. There's a point where being air-headed/having no clue gets annoying. I feel like in the back of her head she's knows all of this and is s t I l l putting her fear of being hurt in front of the possible experiences she could be making with her friends.
