But the king did killed a lot more people than his brother, he practically cursed all his citizens to sicknesses, poverty, human trafficking, drugs and so on, his brother may have fought for territory nut the king ll chose not to fight at all, not for his people nor his country, Causing serious consequences for his people. So which one do you think that would mave make a better king? Il or his brother ? Mind u that Am not asking which one is better person but a better king? The first one go to war to gain more land and the second one does nothing, literally does nothing while other countries are stealing his lands, mistreating his people and even slaving them, he does nothing bc he is a coward, so which is a better king?

I never said Yuhon was any better though? I think the whole point of this arc, besides finally giving us that backstory, was to show the dark side of these two characters. Of course massacring a group of people, even if he had the ““reason”” of ““““protecting”””” Yonhi, is what a madman would do. I just meant that I hope people won’t go back to square one when we hadn’t seen this side of King Il and forget that he was at one time a very selfish man who made lots of mistakes.

Hmmm, I’m not really sure Yuhon would’ve made a better king tbh maybe the country would be stronger in a political standpoint, but I think the way Yuhon would’ve dealt with any internal opposition in Kouka wouldn’t be that of a “good king”.
But of course, Il was not suited to be king either, and I totally agree with you that he put his country through many hardships because of his incompetency, and like it or not all the different situations we’ve seen throughout the story are in a way his responsibility. So yeah.
Also I’ve seen many comments kind of implying that King Il didn’t in fact have many screws loose and I’m????? He WAS a religious fanatic, we DID go a bit crazy for a while, the things he did and how he did them (especially regarding Yonhi) were NOT okay. What this chapter shows is him repenting, which is super cool to see and it ties very neatly with the King Il we saw in the first chapter. But please for the love of Yona don’t go back to square one as if this whole arc never happened!
