Okay lets not so hung up on that though, the manga isnt trying to be offensive or making fun of traps. Even the story portrays how they are attracted to each other in a none offensive way.

Another thing to reconsider trap is not exactly slurs although maybe now it is portrayed that way, its been there since manga are first created. In mangas traps serves as a genre, some people like mangas with traps so they have a whole sections called traps, which is a character that crossdress / dressing as opposite sex. So not making fun of trans or a transphobic word, traps can also be translated to trapping the audience thinking the character is another gender. Traps like any other word can be translated into something offensive depending on the people and by the circumstances. We choose to be offended. (๑•ㅂ•)و✧lets be positive people, keep the fiction as fiction, dont take it to the heart.

Well if some trans people said so. Its just funny how some people bring it up now and make it an issue now. i guess people get offended with anything nowadays. The trap genre is used to desrcibe people who dress as opposite sex, how is that offense? Maybe because people translate trap as in trying to trick people while trap isnt exactly meaning that then get offended. And im the ignorant hmm.. its the same with how humor has changed. Trap is not even a term aimed at trans people, its aimed as androgynous/feminine and crossdressing men. Its like saying the word stupid is transphobic because some people call trans people stupid.

I think it is more offensive to imply all transgenders are traps and "dressing up" to trick people. Transgenders actually believe they are indentifies as opposite sex (which is why some go through hormone therapy), they are not tricking people into anything (coming out or not). While traps basically are males who cross-dress for a specific reason (either for fun or some ulterior motive), and they are aware that they are a man. It's like saying a gay crossdresser and a transgender are the same thing.

I don't remember ever seeing the word "trap" being used to classify transgender people. The term isn't bad or a slur, but using it incorrectly is bad, same with all profanities or any words. Its almost as if people think the word Trap is the same as the "Fa" word. Trap is a word people self identify as. Its not an inherent slur. I understand the discomfort with it due to its connotations of "deceit" but its not the same thing. Trans and traps have their own definitions.

Well, I never said the trap that im talking about was in Japanese. Trap is a trap in both definition ( japanese and western) and i dont think Trap in either definition was ever a slur. I said why on my previous comment and so im not going to explain again. Otonoko and Trap is not supposed to be transphobic nor ever directed to transgenders.
