I think you should reread first five chapters again. A grown up woman from our time(modern 21st century) has read a story about ishid rael and yunifer, but one day she wakes up as yunifer and in the original story yunifer has been killed by rael’s ex(prince) so she tries to avoid that and stay alive. Due to yunifer’s(actually not real yunifer) different actions from original story, things started to change but she thinks the main events will keep happening and tries to avoid some of them to save her own life .
