Ok so personally I don't really like the majority of the aspects of this story like I despise Regan and Ingrid is barely tolerable. But the best part about this story is that their relationship is absolute dogshit. Like it shows a completely different side of the whole romance genre. In the majority of romance books, the couple has to overcome the odds to be together, or it's a slow burn childhood friend to lovers. But for Regan and Ingrid, they are in a political marriage that has been extremely destructive for both of them. I wouldn't call the story refreshing but it's nice to see a romance story where the problem lies within the toxic relationship.
