I know the ending and was sparing others the spoilers! Revenge in his head is exactly what makes his spirit violent and one-dimensional though. Henry on the hand is more of a kindred Spirit to Ian and sees him eye to eye. It was him who discovered Ian in the first place, wasn't it?
Well they have differences. If ur father was hanged in front of u because some fucking Count played him, I don't think u would be a kindred spirit. It was Raymond who discovered him there. He was a lone boy. Think of how hard he must have worked to get this much money to stand equal to that Count all for the sake of his father's revenge. His character here is actually very realistic and strong. Didn't u see he was thinking he could be happy with Ian? But then that count played his dirty trick again and he lost it all. That was what spurred him to propose the Princess as far as I remember. He needs not just money but power for his revenge. And prince consorts must have that power.
Though I do agree with the fact that Henry is a good guy. But the story wouldn't have been that exciting and good if it would've been Henry.

Raymond can have all the money, power and looks in the world but he doesn't have a soft and beautiful soul like yours. You are the opposite of Raymond. You gave up your wealth, name, and family to live a humane life alongside commoners. Sure, Raymond has perfect excuse to be the way he is, but that doesn't change the fact that he is who he is. In a different world and circumstances, Ian would have indeed fallen in love with you instead of Raymond. Ian is naive and his love is naive and inexperienced too. You share kinship with Ian at a completely different level. Violent, aggressive,and possessive love doesn't interest me. It's not real love. It's neediness. Your love is gentle, pure, and patient. Of course, you will suffer for it and won't get what you want. But that's almost the beauty and perfection of your love. The unfulfilled desire makes your love perfect.
