Mind you he used several rings just now... several... that was some serious over kill that he had no idea he had that much power ._. we as the readers can see it from the fact of the three he contracted with, but still it amazed me with how devastating the damage was.

Yeah, that last past was a bit confusing. All I got was the rings he used made that attack an unintended overkill. The comparative was phrased weirdly though.
He used several rings as the last attack on Sofia before going back to Mist City/other dimension.
Makoto thought that the explosion caused by the ring will be similar to the explosion that killed Highland Orc and first Tomoe's offshoot. You know the incident that caused Makoto to kill that female adventurer with his own hand.
But Makoto forgot that explosion is only because of ONE ring. Not to mention, the explosion effect was blocked by Tomoe's offshoot barrier, Alkey's defense, and Clay Aegis, the strongest defensive magic tool adventurer has. So the explosion only strong enough to kill one Highland Orc, Tomoe's offshoot, and heavily injured one Alkey.
Now in this chapter, Makoto used SEVERAL rings, infused it with his magic, and no barrier to block it. Imagine what devastation will it bring...
Basically, Makoto thought he threw a dynamite stick before going home. Without knowing that he actually threw a nuke.
