Based on his hand position, he probably slap her with his back hand. It doesn't mean to hurt her but just for a little awareness. we knew that both of them are from military, so probably what he did is the best for her and we need to remember some people need certain action to understand thing or back on track. Just give this manga a little time and we will see the progress.
