tinfoil hat on: Kate is a saintess not a witch because the magic detector didn't catch her powers. Daisy is the witch who is bad and pretended to be her mum ╮(￣▽￣)╭ she probably knows Kate is a saintess not a witch and wants to use her for something, probably a ritual or whatever
this is all just speculation though, I have not read any spoilers regarding this story lol
