The author really ignored evolution for the sake of having a light-skinned character. Something as prominent as skin color certainly wouldn't lighten in a span of a few generations.... I don't even know why they added that detail about her ancestors being darker skinned if they weren't going to keep it in. It would've been nice to see a brown-skinned female lead for once, since those don't seem to exist on this platform, but in the end they decided to white-wash her. Anyways, I really enjoy this story, don't get me wrong. I'm just disappointed to see white-washing used as a random plot device for no legitimate reason. Also, don't @ me. I'm just tired of seeing light skin constantly heralded as the superior pigment all over this industry.
