It's more of an all romance based stories cliche that doesn't have something else going on. They don't have anything to drive the story except the couple, so they kinda go over the top with each problem rather than showing realistic problems. It's easier when there's something else driving the plot (like baby steps), or its a comedy where the over the top is the joke (ranma 1/2). Otherwise, just accept the telanovella insanity for the guilty pleasure it is.

idk if it's a shoujo manga cliche but why is it that when a problem is solved another one pops out. like when they finally got together again AFTER MUCH HURDLE THAT EVEN I AS A READER GOT STRESSED, his father comes in like a wrecking ball. can't we just have moment of peace.
