I agree with everything you said but I think that the reason Souta erased Tatsumi from her mind was bc he wanted to take his place and not bc he wanted to protect her. Souta is equally as problematic.

I know everyone is blaming souta but if you ask me Rizu was not entirely innocent. Yeah she is good , well mannered, nice in nature and all but I just couldn't say this that she was not wrong in the entire manga.
First she got into depression after losing her friend. Only to help her get out of it , Souta erased Tatsumi's existence and started acting like he was the one who she was with . Then when she finds out the truth , she was like I don't believe him anymore. I felt quite angry . The guy only did it for you but things just got worse , that's why he never got to told you , why start blaming him only. Okay fine she forgives him for that and things got normal .Then Tatsumi came back from foreign just to meet you and yeah it must have been hard for her to except how her cute little Tatsumi became a mature man , but instead of excepting , she started shouting at him . And that guy was in foreign so he was not even aware what happened to her so how would he understand.
After watching till there , I actually left the manga . I don't know whatever happened later on but yeah the ML were to blamed but I also did not like these few things of FL
