I've been wonering this for a while... In many yaoi manga straight men become homosexual very suddenly? Is it true? Has it happened to anyone here? I'm not just talking about guys, girls as well.

As for me I used to believe that I was absolutely straight and found the idea of falling in love with someone of the same sex somewhat gross. But after reading so many shounen/shojo ai and yaoi/yuri manga and also watch movies/news about homosexual couples I've come to accept this kind of love. Idk, now I feel that love does transcend all boundaries and I wouldn't really be surprised if in the future I actually fell in love with a person of the same sex. Does it mean my sexuality has changed? Btw I have never got in a romantic relationship with anyone, and usually I'm hardly aroused by porn and stuff.

:/ :/ Know this is awkward but really I don't dare ask anyone around me haha

Ha Ha I fell the same way in the beginning before i startet reading yaoi. I'm glad manga gave me an open mind. Now I feel kind of stupid for thinking the way I did before, even though I wasn't against gay people but I wasn't sure how to feel if for example I had a gay nephew. Again, Great that I'm not like that anymore.

I'm not completely sure that people can actually change sexuality. I have a friend who is gay and she has been with guy's but said it was not something she would do again, plus she can only see girls as attractive. I'm pretty sure it is the same no mather what sexuality you have. But for some cases I believe that people can be straight their whole life but then find this one person that kind of attracts them. I remember Ellen Degeneres's ex-girlfriend was like that.
Sexuality is definently a strange thing, but I believe it is diffrent for each person. Some may be bi, or realize later in life that the company of same sex isn't so bad.
If you're curious you should definently be open to that side. I'm not saying "go out and have sex with someone now" but it is very normal for any one to be curious. Although I'm not sure how old you are, so I can say it's a teen curiosity thing. Believing that you may fall in love with same-sex won't make you gay, not until you actually enjoy the company of it.

Conclusion: Just be open minded to love and there should not be any limits to who you fall in love with because of gender.

Nope thiss sudden change only happens in fiction and no matter how many i read i can't change my idea that dating someone of the same sex is gross however if i get to know someone like that i'm not gonna judge

LOL i wouldn't say ur sexuality changed. ur just more open-minded about ur own sexuality and other's now. since u haven't been in a relationship yet it's a bit hard to tell but I would assume that ur an asexual.
Being an asexual and being attracted to someone are two different things. To make things short, asexual ppl don't get sexually aroused as much as most ppl.
To know if you're bi, straight, homo or pansexual, I would do more research on the topic. get more involved in the LGBTQ circle and learn more n more before jumping to conclusions i guess.
i actually had thoughts like you before. I almost thought that I was a pansexual but i have a friend who's really knowledgeable in this area and she helped me out a lot. yea i would just say gain more knowledge.

Sexual orientation is a spectrum (search for "Kinsey scale" with google and you'll have more information) Some people are heterosexual and some are homosexual, and many are in between.

So, can we change our sexual orientation? I think we can't change it, but discover it is posible. Maybe we thought we were 100% heterosexual, and after we find ourselves in love with someone who make us realize we weren't.

Here is the real story of someone who was brave enough to share how he fall for his best friend (and he is not the only one)

People don't suddenly change sexual orientations. It's more that people have been socialised to be believe that they are heterosexual or that heterosexuality is the only sexual orientation that exists. When they learn of other sexual orientation, they generally accept the exist of the other orientation but do not experiment too figure out if they are not heterosexual. This is mostly because people are socialised to be believe that heterosexuality is the norm so any other sexuality is strange by comparison. Since people typically do not want to be considered strange, they stick to the notion that they are heterosexual even if that isn't necessarily true. So in manga, I try to think of it as they hadn't explored the idea before but now they have.

Haha thanks a lot for enlightening me (btw what does pansexual mean? It's a new term for me). I'm actually a 19-year-old girl, have had a few crushes on guys, but ever since I started getting into yaoi and all that stuff, I haven't had a crush on anyone so idk. I have more female friends than male friends. The reason why I'm grossed out by porn is because I'm a clean freak (I just find the whole deal very, eh, dirty, from 3rd person's point of view :"( ) .
