I think they mean they found their captains behavior disturbing. Cause he clearly is very soft with maxi but he isn't like that normally, (you can tell from the pink fluff surrounding him in that panel)

I also am confused. Maxi never offended any of them but somehow they were acting like she's a villain. Maybe they got false rumours abour her being spoiled or arrogant or something? Idk.
