I believe the problem is that they are nowhere bear that shade most of the time. Take this from real life experience, the color is darker around the edges and fades in a reddish pinkish brown. Sometimes there is no fade. I guess the author either wanted to follow anime standards, be creative, or thought that the lips would be a different shade (similar to other races).

Asian and white lips are slightly more pigmented, then why do they not have darker bands around their lips. The double standard is atrocious

ok, human with darker skin colours should not be drawn with exaggerated thick bands where the lips should be. Fair skinned characters are drawn with attractive features so darker skin characters should be given the same treatment instead of being given weirdly drawn lighter coloured lips

races is a technical term and it defines people, it doesn’t mean skin color. asian is a race and it doesn’t mean they are not human. it talks about certain groups around the world. that is why terms like “racist” exist, it means that an individual does not see another human being as equal. i am not white, so my race is not white. yes, classifying can be odd, but you made a mistake when saying race equals skin tone.

Race isn’t an outdated term. Nationality and race are two different things. Your race can be black but your nationality can be Japanese while your ethnicity is Jamaican.

No problem! Idk why they refuse to accept that race is a thing. Racism wouldn’t still be a thing if race didn’t exist. Like hate crimes against asian people due to coronavirus didn’t increase because they have pale skin, but because they’re apart of the asian race..... It wouldn’t make sense to just say “humans with skin colors” because asians can be as pale as white people or as dark as black people yet. I think they’re mixing up colorism with racism....
