The reason why he is crying is because he thinks that lia is trying to hold back around him. when it is infact his duty to let the princess relay upon him. Plus add the fact that he think shes going to die soon... ofc he would be sad. The "sin" part is just lia misunderstanding the situation. (=・ω・=) hope that helps.
