Yea but having feelings doesnt compensate what he has done. He took Hen's virginity for payback on Ivan (and Hen was drunk asf since he didnt remember anything). He never told them.about the mark even though it was very dangerous. He used his power statue to get between time (just a little but still annoying). He also rejected Hen's feelings (so why even feel bad. He refusef someone's feelings so it's prettt fair he gets rejected as well). And at the end he had to fuck Hen to save him.from the mark he MADE and HID.
He ain't a monster either. But he ain't a likeable character for me.
Well seems like a lot of people goes "omg poor him / i wish he ended up with the uke" whenever a sexy dude gets rejected, regardless of what they did.
This story, Back To School and Walk On Water are some good examples where many people supports the second seme.(although Alek is really not that bad compared to the "seme rival" of these stories)
Yeah i'm not demonizing him(the 2nd semes from.those 2 other stories are pretty bad though) but I don't feel bad at all for him. And i believe some wanted and still wish he ended up with Hen. And others thinks he deserves to get someone too. And that i disagree but to each their opinion.
I don't think anyone is unworthy of love, but he doesn't really "deserve" it either since he hasn't done anything good really, he only messed things up and then regretted.
back to school REALLY pissed me off. like a lot of people were like “i get he’s a bad person but....” LIKE THERES NO BUT. HE LITERALLY ABUSED THE MC. LIKE MANS PUSHED HIM DOWN A FLIGHT OF STAIRS. and let’s not even get into the gaslighting and manipulation. to me personally he did not deserve a relatively good or happy ending. i agree tho alek isn’t nearly as bad as those two
Back To School was a bad story ngl. In the middle of the story (before we knew the guy raped the MC), it felt like the MC had mixed feelings and couldn't reject the guy's love(especially when he asked to sleep together, just sleep no sex, when they had a school trip). And then at the end the MC says that he had suicidal thoughts whenever he saw the guy.
Like....it's good the rape was taken seriously, but how come he reveals this at the end while the whole story it felt like he didn't truly hate him.
And even after time.skip, he wanted to hug him.
Whenever the rapist was a close friend to the MC, the authors makes it that the MC has mixed feelings and they never totally hates their rapist. And i really dislike that trope.
And just rape in general rape doesnt seem a good tool to add in the plot of a romance story.
The author even revealed her favorite character was the rapist. And many readers agrees.
To all their own opinions tbh, but i wish less author were fixated on rapes and would instead picks up on other sexual fantasies.
People were claiming how Chang (from Walk on Water) is an interesting character. That even if he is a bad person, he had more depth and so a better character and stuff like that.
I was like : he is the super cliché "i love this person so i need to keep a distance because he is my weakness" (super useless, there was no meaning for this) + super cliché "i love him i wanna rape him" and with the cliché sad backstory. Oh and of course he didn't understand himself and his feelings (once again, that's cliché asf and it's so stupid, 30+ adult who claims he doesnt understand what and why he is doing this and that).
His character was just a shit ton of clichés and the only explanations we got from all his actions was "he didn't understand his feelings" which is horrible. Basically he was just a bad guy to add drama to the story. And MANY people were defending as if the author put a lot of thoughts into his character to give him depth. Like.....ok you can like the rapist but don't pretend his character was more than a tool for rape to satisfy the author's thirst. Because that's all he was, rape and drama material.
YESSSS. like to me characters like that add nothing but cliches and drama (which is the point i guess) but most of the time it is so badly executed. i read that story a while ago so i don’t really remember much abt his character but even the main love interest was kinda off putting to me at times.
the way you feel abt chang is the way i feel abt lee kang from “put a smile on”
his character has no depth the mans is literally a walking cliche. like i get the whole horrible childhood turns him cold and now he’s an asshole trope, but i draw the line at manipulation and rape.
then for some crazy reason the main character falls head over heels for them.
Yea, having an horrible childhood doesnt make any of them redeemable at all for stuff like rape.
Unless they literally became crazy (like uncontrollable, as if they were on drugs, caused by a trauma or some crazy shits like that) it's just so weird.
Painter of the night might be an exception though. There's rape but the settings makes it more normal and the seme wasn't inlove with the uke when he raped him. And the uke didn't magically fell for the seme so there's that too. Also, considering that physical injury injury and psychological trauma following rapes weren't a thing, and that the uke wasn't in a relationship, i guess the rape is easier to take when it's done by the main seme.
I kind of support that ship but at the same time i'm like "well if the seme got backstabbed or some shit like that, he deserved it".

so y’all weren’t kidding abt liking alek...?
