He thinks she's doing all that and being friendly because he cast a spell on her. He did that to shock her enough to break the spell.
Surprisingly, she jumped into the river and got the present back just to toss it away again.

Why would he play with people like that...I can't even find the words for it but just why would he do that to her?!? Just because he can't hear her thoughts don't mean she got evil intentions and he threw the bday present in sad and confused
