Ok, so now we have a manga, great. I really hope an anime will follow and if it would drift to the wonderful world of BL I would love it even more.

It's an anthology so not based off of the main story in the game . Also it's a "josei muke" (lit. "appealing to girls", more specifically hetero girls) game so at most there would only be fanservice between the characters :,)

Whether there are unofficial BL doujinshis is another thing (there are). Since it's official the chances are very low because it would upset a lot of the JP fandom (who are actually paying for this) since there are a lot of self shippers and/or make other fans uncomfortable since not everyone who plays josei muke games with low levels of romance enjoys BL either.

I get your point, but what do you want to imply when you said it's meant to be appealing to "hetero girls"? Also it is just my opinon and I wouldn't need them to make it official BL, I am fine with the "brotherhood" thing, like in SK8, Free, OnS etc.

The original term is simply just "appealing to girls" but with the assumption that the majority of girls are heterosexual, i.e. attracted to males only since there are only male characters that hint at liking/can actually romance with the main character (which is 98% of the time canonly female. The characters in josei muke games often refer to you as a woman). Since LGBTQ is more widely spoken about and accepted overseas, I've seen people complain about why josei muke games don't have datable women or women at all in them because lesbian/bisexual women are still women and it's not catering to them, so I just wanted to make it clear that josei muke games have an all male cast + hints of romance between the mc and them while retaining the translation of the term in as much accuracy as possible. In Japan, LGBTQ is still fairly new (as in people have only started talking about it and issues about LGBTQ in more mainstream media such as on the news) so there is this general assumption that most people are heterosexual. So a Japanese person in Japan hearing the term josei muke would most likely assume the franchise has an all male cast (which is correct) because it's catered to the (general) female population.

If it's a brotherhood thing though it's very likely there will be one or two pairs of characters that are really really close to each other, but them being in love would never be explicitly stated.

I know about the situation in Japan, but after what you wrote in your first comment I was a bit confused because you said that this game is supposed to be appealing mostly to "hetero girls". But same goes for BL, most of the series are written for girls, so for me it wasn't clear why you pointed out that "hetero girl" part so much.

Sorry if it sounded like I was trying to heavily point it out but it was simply just to explain the term "josei muke" while retaining the translation in simple terms. Josei muke games are games with an all male cast that either are in love/hint at romantic affection towards the main character which is female; however the literal translation is "appealing to girls" which is very general. As I mentioned before, people have (both on the internet making comments and while talking to me personally) complained about the lack of female characters when the genre is suppose to appeal to girls and lesbian/bisexual women are also girls therefore technically there should be content for them as well, considering the term just says women in general.

The difference with BL is the fact that it doesn't explicitly state in the name of the genre that the genre is written for girls (which can be a problem because there are numerous people complaining BL isn't an accurate representation of mlm relationships irl) while for josei muke, that's literally the name of the genre. I wasn't sure at first whether you were one of those people that would misunderstand or not, because it's irritating when westerners not familiar with the genre come in and complain/demand for datable female characters when it's never going to happen. It's something that happened a number of times to me in the past so I just put it out there hoping no one would expecting that and complain when they find out there aren't any. I've seen a lot of people complain "if josei muke are meant to appeal to women, why aren't there any women in the game. It's not appealing to all women :(((" and lesbian/bisexual women aren't a tiny minority (at least not on the internet and within the western ACG community).

I'm sorry if it sounded homophobic or anything, that wasn't my intention. I just thought it would be simpler and less wordy than saying "josei muke are games/franchises made to appeal to women, typically with some form of romance embedded in it but there's only male characters in the cast" and to avoid getting questioned for the nth time why there's only male characters because it's a pain to explain every time. If you had a better way of rephrasing it though, I'm open to suggestions :)
