I'm pretty sure that you aren't supposed to like/find romantic how controlling he is, hence why Kate is here. I never read the novel so I could be wrong, but I think that she's gonna play a big part in making Hugh stop controlling Lucia
I really hope it takes that direction, cuz her pleading with him and asking permission to just go out is soo off putting
YEEEEES!!! I was searching for a comment like this! I have no idea why there aren't more comments about it and why you have so many down votes. I find it really disturbing! I REALLY hope it will be addressed more and not be romanticised. I have some hope because of Kate but wouldn't it ever be nice with a female lead that can actually stand up for herself?
Their relationship isn't equal in the slightest. And even though it's just a story it reminds me of the real world where so many women need to beg and plead their husbands in order to do even the most trivial things. And then be grateful for being able to do things that should be within their rights!
