I don't think this is all Eren's doing anymore. It looks like Eren is a prisoner to Ymir. Eren started the Rumbling because he knew it was the only way to save his friends, and Ymir's goal is the annihilation of humanity. So now Eren is a prisoner of her will, which is why he wants his friends to kill him.
