Do you mean Rune? He is a wizard who first found her when she awakened as vampire. He clearly warned Diane not to travel alone but Diane run away from him again and again. Well before she became a vampire Diane has been sick all her life, she never set foot outside of her palace, she was raised like a flower in greenhouse, she have no idea about the real world, she assume everything just like stories in fairy tale book, that's why she didn't listen to Rune cause Rune always travel around by himself before he met her so why can't she do that too, but the harsh reality struck her, the place she visit, the people she met far from what she is imagined and thus she feel betrayed again and again.
and i think he did look for her when she ran away
