Other than the novel, if you aren’t feeling it, there’s also the fandom. But be warned that there are a lot of spoilers, based on what you’ve read in the manga right now, we’ve covered the ghost bridegroom arc, which is basically a case about several brides missing after being escorted to be married off. Xie Lian, who had just ascended, was sent on a mission to solve this case to repay his 8.8 million merits ( god currency I think ). Xie Lian descends again along with two volunteers, Mu Qing and Fu Yao, the previous servants of Xie Lian ( when he was still a mortal ) They use Xie Lian as a makeshift bride/ substitute to find who exactly the ghost bridegroom is, oh, and the dude with the mask that led Xie Lian is actually not the bridegroom ( can you believe that? Lol ) so Xie Lian goes on a little walk with masked dude who leads him to a ‘Minguang Temple’ this is where the ghost bridegroom resides, but oop, the masked dude disappears undiscovered. As Xie Lian is examining the temple, he saw something which led to the discoveries of some other people tagging along, < fast forward > Xie Lian ends up capturing the ghost bridegroom with the help of another heavenly official which had something to do with Pei Ming, the objective of the bridegroom. Okay, if it’s still a little confusing, cus I’m totally 100percent confident in my explanation I shall introduce to you the donghua/anime! The arc will make complete sense to you after this, I swear it. It’s also beautiful, so highly recommended if you haven’t watched it yet.
