I love cold male leads that tease/mess with the female lead but I don't like it when they're plain jerks and treat her horribly, unless it's part of the story where he bullies her at first then changes into a good person then that's fine. I personally am not a fan of the "nice guys" but you get what I mean by the difference of "cold cute ml lead" and a "plain asshole".
I'm irrelevant to this but I definitely agree the cold ml vs. just straight up jerks, they are not the same. Unless it's a big plot point, I don't like jerks.
Well i think mangaka is trying to make up with the fact of blackmail by making him super duper handsome and kind.
