thats not a bad comparison but just to be clear Jason was considerably larger than Riki. like he was beautiful and feminine looking in the face but he is described as a towering figure. Riki is more normal size guy and boyish looking. (not rly buff either but toned and tough).

lol nope. its a gorey intense action manga that was aimed at young men (tho ofc anyone can read it). the main guy Guts love interest is a woman named Casca but that didnt stop people from shipping him with his comrade/friend Griffith who has wavy blonde hair and a soft pretty face but he's a knight and can fight as fiercely as Guts (a more macho looking buff guy) can. cue tons of fanarts and fanfics where they fuck lol. i am not familiar enough with these fanworks to know who was most commonly drawn/written as the top/bottom but u can prob find them easily enough if ur curious? (the heyday of Berserk has since passed i think its fair to say altho it is considered a classic for many manga and anime fans across the world). i hope that helped. i bet there's wiki and fanpages that summarize the whole series too if ur curious i never finished it nor even got very far with the anime (which was my first exposure to it, not the manga). its just not a genre that i enjoy much. if only it HAD been a smutty action BL manga lol.
ah yes the elusive power bottom. more BL rly needs to break out of boring heteronormative sexual roles tbh. but that's a convo for a diff thread since this is about an insanely powerful man who uses his class and wealth to subjugate a much larger physically stronger man into being his sex slave cause said man has no wealth or social standing to lean back on. it is interesting in that its a more nuanced and realistic depiction of power structures. not Big Stronk Man = Top Dom Boi becuz...animal kingdom? heteronormativity? idek. but yeah the story would still work if Silver hair was a power bottom but i think humiliation kink is a big part of this story and that is sold better with the buff boi on bottom. (that and the duke is cleaaarly a sadist and...sadist on bottom doesnt work that well...i mean im not saying it doesnt HAPPEn but uh..)

It's true that the conversation doesn't truly apply here. This manga, as you said, provides a break away from the "heteronormative", per say, roles in yaoi, and shows something not often seen in BL with the couples' roles of a large man who happens to be a bottom and a smaller man with higher social status who happens to be a top, which is something anyone can appreciate. that being said, I REALLY am looking forward to a BL, hopefully in the future, that features a man with a princely trope, a stereotype, even, who plays the part of a power bottom. not a character who the author eludes to being such in the beginning and breaks away once the plot just reaches slight development, but a true princely, dominant, power bottom.
