I think it has something to do with tradition, since a queen/empress usually symbolizes as a mother of a country/empire and its future prosperity. Without a current or previous queen the king is easily subjected to criticism from their simple and unknowing people. If the King and his vassal are ok with the criticism it then it could al probably end super easy but we all know it an't going down that lane T A T
I think it’s more the fact that his dad already had heirs, so the number one purpose of having a queen was already satisfied (aka having babies) whereas Wolfgang has yet to have any. Plus, his dad is quite the anomaly. I imagine Shin is doing his best to make sure that this time around, Goldenleonard gets a “proper” king with a queen by his side. Sure Wolfgang is technically allowed to rule alone but he’d probably be facing another coup if he fails to 1) make heirs and 2) foster relations with some powerful family, said as it is ╥﹏╥

I don’t understand how queens can rule by themselves but men can’t? Are they that incapable of functioning without dividing the work or? Am I missing something smh
