It’s a Korean book (manhwa). You refer to an elder male who you are close to as brother/uncle. In this case, he is saying “luke hyung” which is brother Luke but it isn’t limited to familial relationships. Luke-ssi asked to be referred to like that. A lot of manhwa use it. It’s like saying senpai in manga.
It does sound weird when he calls him brother, but it’s because most translators leave the honorifics as they are.
Like instead of superior they stick with sunbae, in this case, they just translated hyung
Also the names aren’t actually luke and stuff. They translated those to English. I get that it could be irritating cause English speakers pair the word brother with family connections but the translators simply translated everything, name and all.
