I know in japanese there's no he or she more like a relative association. (so i think its the same for chinese or korean... which have you)
... ie: its the translator that decides if they are saying "he" or "she"... I just ignore or change it at my discretion unless its significant.

Yea i did wonder if her "elemental" half means she lost her gender. cus nothing there doesnt mean she has her "female" parts
Her dad said elementals have no reproductive organs = no gender. But she is still a girl bc she says she is. Biologically no gender but still a girl
