I don’t know if by now you’ve read the rest of the chapters but they do explain a bit how she essentially hears nothing aside from a mix of things she thinks are “sounds”. It’s not entirely clear the extent of her abilities but without the hearing aid she doesn’t hear anything

It was mentioned that the hearing aids sort of organizes the sounds but W/o them i guess she cant hear anything at all. Not too sure abt the details.
There's all kinds of deaf people like there different kind of blind people. Like some can just hear buzz in ears some hear u fully. But all in all they're all deaf.

Yes which is why I asked where on the spectrum she was. With the way they started off the story they made it sound like she was completely deaf but if someone is completely deaf then hearing aids are of no use to them so I wanted to know the extent to which she could hear.
So I just finished the first chapter and she says that her world is one without sound and that she was born deaf but the has hearing aids? Is she partially deaf? I have a few friends who have hearing aids but all of them are only partially deaf and the hearing aids allow them to hear better (not perfectly but slightly better). If she was completely deaf and lived in a world of silence then wouldn't the hearing aids be useless? I feel like they should've used different wording there like living in a world with only muffled noise or something along those lines. Do they expand more on her hearing ability later in the manga?
