I understand what you mean but I think if a person who you love has been having a hard life and all those horrific things get reveled to you one by one then it's obvious you'd want to take them out of there and put them somewhere safe,away from all the suffering.

I ain’t a fan on ML’s reason for his feelings for FL recently because if you notice, his feelings are only getting stronger each time he sees FLs situation, which shouldn’t be the case. I would’ve appreciate it more if ML fell in love more deeply to FL through the interactions between them (which I seldom see in the story line). Right now, im only seeing ML pitying FL that’s why he’s pushing the marriage.
