this is why you gotta read even further. she's being bitchy so that the ladies in waiting will quit. therefore those who quit are actually not spies because they'd have to keep their jobs in order to get information from her. why does she have to act nice when she's not safe in the palace? she needs alliances and she's just fishing out the fakes. she's actually really nice and her plan is really smart

Okay so I’m only on chapter 17, but I don’t understand how her villain act makes sense. If she wants to save her family isn’t she going about it the wrong way? I understand flushing out the spy, but why be hateful to everyone one else? Does she drop the act and freaking apologize eventually?? I’m not liking this story too much but I’ll keep going to see if it gets better. I just need to know if it’s worth it.
