i believe it was to show the contrast in the seme's character when he was young and then as an adult, you know?
like when he was just a kid he was sweet and helpful...but as an adult (and after what he went through in the academy) he became really pushy, rude and condescending in a way.......i enjoyed the story it was sweet becoz when they finally became a couple the seme became cute and nice again

God..the amount of times i literally rolled my eyes is unbelievable.The seme is unlikable as hell.When he blurted out all that bs at the beginning about how the uke would always spread his legs for anyone and that it wasn't possible to "convert" an homo like him he seriously lost me.Like,shut the hell up dude,that was so uncalled.Was it even necessary to add for the plotline?After that comment he immediately became ugh to me,barely managed to finish the story
