It’s not about the book being triggering, I personally do not get triggered by these stories but i still do disagree with it being so normalised in the genre, and that’s not a bad thing, I think it would be worse if I was okay with that and at the end of the day we all have our opinions, they’re just expressing theirs and your expressing yours, I can’t defend this genre and the writers that make it, when rape is unfortunately the default around here

Understandable. I don’t agree with normalizing rape. At the same time, it’s become quite obvious that it’s something mangakas have written into their storylines for this particular genre. Idk if it’s because it’s what women/young girls flock to naturally so they supply it as a demand, if it’s their laziness to actually write a compelling storyline that involves a basis of understanding/consent, or if it’s a little bit of both. So I’m gonna go with the latter here. It’s like Wattpad all over again... eventually one is either going to have to not support the genre as a whole and/or avoid the rape by sticking to the wholesome side of the genre.
Again, I do agree that it isn’t right because rape isn’t ok & some girls can’t depict fantasy from reality. I’m just gonna say as someone who has indulged in romance novels, k-dramas, fan fiction, movies, etc., there’s something about the portrayal of power, dominance, masculinity, & sex that women/girls can’t help but flock to even when it’s wrong. I can’t deny that the genre as a whole is an anomaly that usually promotes the toxic side of gay/lgbtq+ relationships that for some reason, girls partake in. So this situation is a bit complex.
You guys keep complaining about rape, abuse, incest, trauma, etc. in Yaoi when you know how pervasive it is within the genre. Instead of crying about how it doesn’t suit your standards... look at the TAGS that are there for you before you read the book. It’s common sense. I’m getting tired of the whining from you guys.
Is rape & abuse right? No! But I’m not gonna read a book that will trigger me. -_-
