My guess on what’s happening and what’s coming

My thoughts are that aseph was supposed to be dead by now, but instead he is playing a crucial role in helping the prince take down the dark magic users who are killing people. I don’t know what their motivations are, but it seems as though aseph maybe had a half brother who was related to the king, but was killed before being born.

It seems to be currently insinuated that the king was trying to distance himself from his heirs for a strange reason, and perhaps that the king doing this helped lead to asephs childhood misfortunes. Duke tiathe, zays father, seems to have been involved in that (killing asephs mother and burning his house, but also letting aseph get away) but seems to have also been so horrified at the deed that he somewhat is no longer associated with the king (he is obviously helping the princes side now).

It’s also heavily implied that Zay’s soul is the original Zay who was sent to the modern world to take a break from her efforts in trying to help aseph (like she keeps getting reincarnated to help him)

The “book” zays life is mirroring had two parts, one with a romance between lissa and the prince, and another where the prince likely saves the country and assumes his claim to the throne and becomes king. This is likely the conflict we’re seeing now: dethrone the current king by exposing his connection to dark magic.

I think aseph has some feeling of being reincarnated or something, for a character who wasn’t even supposed to exist at this point in time, he seems to know quite a lot and first gave me this feeling at the cordlessi. He takes the role of asking to allow the prince to return which ultimate sets up the downfall of the king, who we are now seeing may be responsible for destroying asephs family, which he would likely not know unless he was reincarnated with his memories.
