Actually, there is also the fact that Duchy's legitimate childs were called "Prince" and "Princesse" because they are descendant of royalty to begin with (when there is two prince for exemple, one becomes King and the other will be given a duke title (unless he dies)). Since they don't talk about that in this story (even in the novel), it's unlikely that Iris and Oscar ar descendants of royalty but I might be wrong (maybe they did say something like that in the novel after all and that's just me forgetting).
Yeah in noble society it's commong for duke (aka the highest rank besides maybe archduke sometimes) is a title that is bestowed to the son that did not get the throne.
It seems that Oscar and Isis' family is rather a family that has been around for a while.
But!
Since they are from a ducal line there's a very high chance that there's some royal blood mixed in, for example from a female born royalty since women don't ascend thrones but get married off, for a princess it would be common to be married off to high nobility or another country, a ducal family being high nobility there's a chance.
Conclusion:
They may be a bit of royal blood in them but Oscar who will be succeeding the house will simply stay a duke and Isis will take the title of whichever man she marries (due to rumors people assumes she would marry into royalty, pretty much that she was already engaged, they called her princess at times... awkward)
