Totally! Besides, the gap isn't really that big... They are only 9 years apart when the story started.. She was 11 as he was 18 so, I mean, I've seen bigger gaps than that. Though, he does have his issues, but so does anyone I guess... he really is trying his best with her best interests in mind. Let's not forget that the whole leaving an becoming a noble idea, was so that she and her family would have an ally. The only issue I can see is, just like you said, that he didn't communicate his intentions properly, but aside from that, he's not at all bad

how do i say this..? umm.. Emel's not that baad..? I kinda understand him, he just lacking the communication department with leaving out of nowhere for who knows where. Also, this is a medieval fantasy so, age doesn't matter much here (well atleast not 15 below). You guys seen Estellle as a baby but she grew now, it is technically legal tbh.. justice for Emel for false accusation of pedophilia. I'm probably the 1% on the society... ^-^'
