not that he lost interest, he just give up cause she is beyond his reach, for him she is still his muse.

He likes Elena as Lucia, but he knew she wore a heavy make up, still he could see her beauty, then when Elena attended his exhibition as Veronica, he knew right away that she is Lucia, since Veronica is the Duke daughter he think he has no chance so he buried his feeling even before it bloom.
