I mean, he literally collapsed. If the author waited any longer, the reunion wouldn’t seem so timely. And Kou did suffer for awhile anyway; it just didn’t seem that way, but quite a bit of time passed while shinobu was in another branch of the office. He was definitely a jerk in the beginning tho. He’s very lucky shinobu still loved him after all that, so he actually got the chance to prove himself since he really did change (it being his first love and all)
A little more suffering wouldn’t have hurt tho, as you suggested . It was the best part since he actually got a huge taste of his own medicine
