What is the vest for? Why does he need to wear it when he turns into a cat?

I can only guess it's to keep him warm or, less probably, so they recognize him. Although what I'm sure of is that it just makes him cuter.

That vest is a safety backpack. Inside of the bag it has spare clothes inside when Nekoya turns back into human form. :)
