Yea this series is fetishisation of the dark/ light M/F pairing. You get it in mainstream media too (Cloak and Dagger anyone...).
My 2 cents is that it's fine to enjoy problematic things in fiction if you recognise it and like... don't do that stuff irl. Imo the ones denying it are the worst. Just accept that this is an orientalist trope and move on. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
