SO MUCH BACKSTORY PLOT!!
1) Jingi/Hyeonjae's mother confirmed to have murdered their father and tried to cover it up (but the uncle eventually finds out)
2) Nasty uncle starts showing his true colors when he takes an interest in a delinquent child and takes him under his wing. Towards the end of the chapter you can see that the child had the tips of his hair dyed.
3) During the mother's trial the uncle testifies that he should've been more aware of the spousal abuse and defends the mother against the death penalty. However he secretly wants revenge for his brother and thinks that the death penalty for the mother isn't enough—he vows to make Jingi/HJ's life a living hell.
4) The uncle takes the boys in and then the chapter ends with the beginning of the (implied) abuse of Jingi, as masterfully depicted by the repetitive panels of the closed door.
Y'all the ending was GUT-WRENCHING. The author is truly a master at showing and not telling.

Looks like we're in the flashback era for season 2. We learn about Jingi/Hyeonjae's family during their early childhood and the fact that their mother was verbally/physically abused by their father. It gets to a point that the father hurts HJ for not knowing how to talk and the mom starts to consider running away or maybe ending it all.
I'm hoping the back story era isn't too long because I NEED to see the cliffhanger resolved!!
I'm guessing the second couple is the palace guard x prince's bodyguard and the older brother ends up being in a triangle with Sam/CG. Also looks like the bodyguard may have feelings for the older brother too?
Look, I don't care how shallow the plot is, I will pick up ANYTHING this artist puts down in their future works. Plot aside my eyes are feasting every chapter damn!!
