I mean, if the emperor keep going on like this, the kid will actually grow up with a complex and become the very thing he doesn’t want. Kids are flexible and are able change their mind.
By the time they reach a certain age, or just a certain situation, something will click and cement into them, that this is it, and they stop caring about you or pleasing you.
When you suddenly want to come around, they won’t even have the interest to put out like when they were a kid. This is literally the time to nurturing in order to prevent the bad stuff.
